Colorado Angler Fred Miller Catches and Releases 56 inch Taimen!
Our biggest fish of 2009 was a 56 inch beast landed by Fred Miller of Denver, Colorado. Fred and his group tangled with this fish two times during his week. The first time was when the 56 inch Taimen ate a 32 inch Taimen off his buddy's line!
After seeing that 56 inch fish, Fred, and his persistent Mongolian guide, Big Fish Baera, went back to the riffle several times during the week and finally landed the beast. Needless to say, Fred and his friends are coming back this year for more. Baera will be there too. See Fred's very complimentary write up in the Angling Report.
As has been our practice since 1995, all of our fish were released. Catch rates for anglers remained remarkably consistent with previous years. Credit for this accomplishment should go the Taimen Conservation Fund and its supporters from around the world. The Lenok Trout fishing was very busy in 2009. With a great terrestrial hatch in the early fall, and a remarkable mayfly hatch in the middle of September, our anglers all caught a great number of the world’s oldest trout species. As one would expect, we had several Taimen eat our Lenok off of our lines.
2010 is looking to be another great year of fishing for Taimen.
We had a sold out season in 2009 and are pretty close to filling our spots in 2010. Presently, we have the following openings for the 2010 season:- May 31 to June 7, 2010: Three Openings
- June 7 to June 14, 2010: Two Openings
- Sept. 6 to Sept. 13, 2010: Six Openings
- Sept. 13 to Sept. 20, 2010: Four Openings
